Some More Free Adult Wordpress Themes
Written by Bec on August 25, 2009 – 9:30 AM -I came across another site today offering adult themes for Wordpress blogs, and it’s appropriately titled Adult WP Themes. They’re not too fancy, but they are niche specific, including cute cartoon characters for Granny Porn, Gay, Interracial, Double Dildo, Babes, Blondes, Asian, Indian, and so on. And did I mention that these adult wordpress themes are free? The zips even include the psd file so you can adjust the site title in Photoshop. I did download them, and of the ones I checked, none had that nasty eval base 64 code hiding all sorts of mischief within the php files. So feel free to drop by AdultWPThemes and check out the 23 or so free templates available for download.

Decoding ugly eval gzinflate or base64_decode in Free Themes
Written by Bec on May 13, 2009 – 8:00 AM -
Free for Bloggers and Webmasters! Oh how I love free stuff. But beware! Some free stuff can cost you big time! I’m all for people getting and retaining credit for their hard work, especially for themes that are freely shared amongst the masses … BUT I also want to know just what is being served up off of my server. Themes and shareware that comes with a disclaimer stating I can only use the them so long as I “don’t touch this encrypted code” giving so-and-so credit that is loaded into the footer.php file of my possible new theme is going to be de-coded before it ever graces one of my sites. I’m not going to be happy to find out I’m throwing around ads to casinos, launching popups, relaying hacking / tracking information, or installing malware viruses just because I want to use the pretty free theme. And it should concern you as well.
Not sure yet what I’m talking about? Read on.
After you download a batch of free template themes, or even some shareware files are doing this too, go into them one by one, and open the footer.php with something like Wordpad, Notepad or Dreamweaver. If you see encoded files or rather scripts where you can’t see or modify the source then you’ll want to get that decoded. These encrypted files can be identified by the starting line which is like: eval(gzinflate(str_rot13(base64_decode. Then it goes on with a mass of random numbers, letters and characters like ‘FZi3ksTWEVJ/hZnITwDvV’ and so on.
You can use the method outlined here on Proxyutza.com to create a little script in three steps that will let you decode and actually see what has been included in that free theme or shareware file before you upload it to your site.
I haven’t always checked what’s in some of the themes I’ve mentioned in the past, but I will be diligent about doing so from here on out. Be especially cautious about downloads on sites that aren’t the “original” site for the theme. It is easy enough to setup a “free template” site and host a bunch of themes that the guy has added his nasty encoded scripts into. Just one theme tonight we looked at using contained a multiple scenario of malicious malware installs, casino popups, and other timed ads. What a load of rubbish! So protect yourself, your clients and your server … find out what’s in those encoded footers before installing them!

Theme Authenticity Checker (TAC Plugin)
Written by Bec on September 3, 2008 – 12:08 PM -
Here’s a truly wonderful addition to the Wordpress family of plugins: a Theme Authenticity Checker (or TAC for short). If you want to be sure that malicious code hasn’t been added to a Wordpress theme you’re thinking of using, TAC can show you if, and where, any suspect code is located within that theme.
The developers of TAC at Builtbackwards.com discuss why they decided to code this valuable plugin:
TAC got its start when we repeatedly found obfuscated malicious code in free WordPress themes available throughout the web. A quick way to scan a theme for undesirable code was needed, so we put together this plugin.
After Googling and exploring on our own we came upon the article by Derek from 5ThirtyOne regarding this very subject. The deal is that many 3rd party websites are providing free WordPress themes with encoded script slipped in – some even going as far as to claim that decoding the gibberish constitutes breaking copyright law. The encoded script may contain a variety of undesirable payloads, such as promoting third party sites or even hijack attempts.
Currently, TAC searches the source files of every installed theme for signs of malicious code. If such code is found, TAC displays the path to the theme file, the line number, and a small snippet of the suspect code. As of v1.3 TAC also searches for and displays static links.
Here’s a screenshot of the TAC plugin in action:

Just because the code is there doesn’t mean it’s not supposed to be or even qualifies as a threat, but most theme authors don’t include code outside of the WordPress scope and have no reason to obfuscate the code they make freely available to the web. We recommend contacting the theme author with the code that the script finds, as well as where you downloaded the theme. But the real value of this Plugin is that you can quickly determine what and where code needs to be cleaned up.
What if I find something amiss in the code or links?
The developers say to contact the theme’s original author to double check if that section of code is supposed to be in the theme in the first place – chances are it shouldn’t be there as there isn’t a logical reason to have base64 encoding in a theme. Static Links aren’t necessarily bad, TAC just lists them so you can see where your theme is linking to.
If something is malicious or simply unwanted, TAC tells you what file to edit, then you can just click on the file path to be taken straight to the WordPress Theme Editor. Just be sure you have chmoded your theme files to be writable (777 usually) in order to do your edits within the Wordpress Admin panel.

Free Adult Themed Wordpress Templates
Written by Bec on January 30, 2008 – 5:00 AM -I was wandering around the web yesterday, and just following some theme links and happily fell over a site that lists a ton of wordpress themes, all sorted by category, # of columns, colors, etc and it actually has an Adult category. There are currently 24 Adult wordpress themes available, and they’re all free. Once onsite at WPThemesFree.com you can easily download the theme zip file and also preview the theme to see how it looks once installed.
Most of the offerings are of the 800x, 2 column variety, but I was impressed with the availability of themes that addressed various niches like fetish, latex, foot fetish, smoking, and lesbian. A couple of the themes offer a layout that would make it pretty easy to swap in a different image, and it looks like all of the themes are widget ready. While there, be sure to also look through the Beauty, Entertainment, Dating, Music and Fashion sections. There are some pretty sexy themes available in each of those areas as well.
